Offseason Outlook: Predators
Season review:
what can I say about a team that had so much potential? the Predators seemed to have it all this season and they were one of the top teams in the league (tied for 3rd most points in the league). after acquiring Forsberg before the deadline, Nashville seemed to have it all: lots of scoring depth at forward, a solid defensive core, and two solid goalies. however, nothing could come together in the palyoffs and they lost the series to San Jose 4-1.
Offseason needs:
with Forsberg all but gone, Nashville could use another top 2 playmaking centerman. their biggest need is to probably resign their own UFAs. Kariya is a huge part of the offense and led the team in points. Kimmo Timonen, the captain, is a core part of the defense. Scott Hartnell is a big forward who can chip in an important goal. The only other suggestion I can give is to give the young guys time to develop and grow chemistry (especially the defense).
Next Season Outlook:
The Predators will definitely be competing for the Presidents trophy. With a completely healthy Vokoun and one of the deepest group of forwards and young defensemen in the league, the Predators will be a Cup favorite. If given some extra playing time, I can imagine Radulov scoring over 30 goals next year.
