07-08 Sleeper Picks

who do you guys think are good "sleeper picks" to do well in fantasy this year? i'm predicting big things from Petr Sykora (he'll play with Crosby or Malkin), Shea Weber (he'll be main defenseman on PP), Manny Legace (St. Louis will be much improved), and Antoine Vermette (I think he grows into a scoring role... he could get close to 70 points if he stays with Alfredsson and gets PP time).

RE: 07-08 Sleeper Picks

Scott Hartnell who will be receiving more ice time in Philly should make the list.

Still can't believe his ridiculous contract, though. He's good, but not $4.2M good.

RE: 07-08 Sleeper Picks

My sleeper picks include:

Lee Stempniak(Stl)-13 goals in 06, to 27 in 07... could be a lock for 35 goals and 30 assists.

Jiri Hudler(Det)-This guy scored 15 goals in limited playing duty for Detroit last season. If he lands on one of the top two lines; he could score 30+ and record around 30 assists. A 55+ point season is not far fetched.

Keith Ballard(Pho)- Ballard could lead the Coyotes in scoring among their defensemen. He could notch 45+ points.

Cam Barker(Chi)- Over the course of a full season, he could amass 50+ points with his cannon from the blueline. He might not get there until next year, however. Expect around 12 goals, 30 assists this season. Not too shabby for a first full year.

Steve Bernier(SJ)-was supposed to be a sleeper last season, but struggled and had injury issues. If he plays on the first or second line in SJ, look out.

Drew Stafford(Buf)-Briere and Drury are gone; therefore his value takes a big leap. If he lands on one of the top two lines, then 60 points could be in reach. 25-30 of them being goals.

Ilya Byrzgalov(Ana)- If Giguere goes down for any significant amount of time, or if Byrzgalov gets traded his value will skyrocket.

Pascal Leclaire(CLB)- The first full season under coach Hitchcock, who loves playing a defensive system. The Blue Jackets have a good core of young defensemen. Leclaire could reach 30Wins, 2.70 GAA, .908 Sv, and around 2 or 3 shutouts.

Joffrey Lupul(PHI)-What happened last year? A projected 35 goals scorer with Edmonton didn't pan out, but he could reach 30 goals with Philadelphia. 30-35 goals, 25 asssists is with in reach. Maybe around 55-60 points.

Nikolai Zherdev(CLB)-If this guy decides to show up and play this season, he could be in for a breakout season. He is much too talented for the 10 goals 22 assists that he posted last season. If he looks to be committed to playing everyday in the NHL, then he could hit 65-70 points. 36 goals 34 assists for 70 points is within his potential. A breakout season for Zherdev means a very good year for Rick Nash.

RE: 07-08 Sleeper Picks

Derek Roy and Dustin Brown for me.....

With Drury and Briere on other teams, Roy and Vanek will be the two top scorers.

I also pick Dustin Brown because the Kings will be much better and he may have some other scoring line mates.
