1st start for Aebischer with the Habs tonight!
Tonight, the Habs are playing against the Canes. I am excited about this game, because Aebischer will be making his first start with the Canadiens. In fact, 3 Swiss players will be playing tonight, Aebischer and Streit with the Habs, and Gerber with the Canes. A big event from this small Country of Europe.
It will be a tough game on my Habs, especially that Markov won't be playing...Good luck Habs!!!
GoHabs!
P.S: Below is a nice preview for the game for tsn.ca
The Carolina Hurricanes hope to build another winning streak tonight when they visit the Montreal Canadiens at the Bell Centre.
On Tuesday, Doug Weight scored twice and added an assist to lift the Hurricanes over the New York Rangers, 5-3, at RBC Center. Matt Cullen and Mike Commodore tallied a goal apiece and Martin Gerber made 41 saves for Carolina. Cory Stillman added an empty-net goal for the Hurricanes, who ended a three- game slide.
With 94 points, the Canes are now one behind the West-leading Detroit Red Wings for the overall lead in the NHL. They sit only one ahead of Northeast Division-leading Ottawa as well.
Weight has now tallied three goals and four assists in 13 games since being acquired from St. Louis.
Trade deadline upgrade Mark Recchi posted one shot on net but zero points in his third game since being obtained from Pittsburgh. Recchi, who skated in his first home match with the club, has yet to find the scoresheet with Carolina.
The Hurricanes posted their 44th win of the season and now have 94 points. Both marks broke the franchise records established by the 1986-87 Hartford Whalers.
Carolina begins a four-game road trip tonight and will visit Boston on Saturday.
Montreal, meanwhile, hopes to rebound after having a two-game winning streak ended in Monday's 2-1 loss to visiting Tampa Bay. Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis each tallied goals to spark the Lightning.
Mike Ribeiro scored his team's lone goal and Francis Bouillon and Alex Kovalev each chipped in a helper for Montreal. Cristobal Huet came up with 22 saves in defeat.
Recently acquired David Aebischer will be in the nets for Montreal tonight.
It will mark his first start since being acquired from Jose Theodore last week.
The Canadiens will need Aebischer to play well since the offense has only scored 184 goals, which is tied with the Washington Capitals for second lowest in the East.
The Canadiens check in with the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference -- three ahead of ninth-place Atlanta.
Montreal will host Pittsburgh on Saturday.
