The St. Louis Blues announced Monday that an MRI confirmed that Lalime has a torn left ACL that will require reconstructive surgery.
Lalime, 31, suffered the injury after Scott Hartnell of the Nashville Predators fell on him in the third period of Saturday's game.
It has been a miserable season for Lalime and the Blues, who own the worst record (20-40-13) in the Western Conference. Lalime finished 4-18-8 with a 3.64 goals-against average.
An All-Star in 2002-03, Lalime was waived by the Blues last Dec. 12 and assigned to Peoria of the American Hockey League the next day. He was recalled on Feb. 1.
Lalime, who was acquired by St. Louis from Ottawa for a conditional fourth-round pick in June 2004, was 25-23-7 with a goals-against average of 2.29 in 2003-04.
