RE: Best Enforcer in the NHL

When yo see hilights of Probert and then watch fights from this year there is a visible difference. The fights now are terrible, you're lucky to see more than 2 or 3 punches per side. They usually wrap each other up and get in little jabs. Proberts fights along with the other fights in his era and before were all offense, lots of punches and little defense. the guys now don't compare at all to guys like Probert or Domi in his prime. I would say McGrattan is the best over the last little while.

I think the best fight I've seen in recent years was Stephen Peat when he was still with the capitals against PJ Stock. That was the fight that had over 90 punches thrown in 30 seconds. Ridiculous.

What about Darcy Tucker? I guess he's not techinically an "enforcer" but he throws wicked checks, and isn't afraid to get dirty. Last season he threw this weird hit that knocked Hecht's knee out.

I would put Tucker in the agitator category. I would say that him, Avery and Barnaby lead that category. Get under peoples skin, use kind of dirty tactics but still fight from time to time.

Chara is a very good fighter but he's not an enforcer and shouldn't be. He's too skilled. You don't want your skilled players fighting because they risk injury and they end up sitting in the box instead of being out on the ice where you need them.

What about someone like Matthew Barnaby of Dallas. He likes to hit and get alot of roughing penalties. I really don't know how well he fights though.

RE: Best Enforcer in the NHL

Laraque and Mcgrattan are probably the 2 best enforcers in the nhl
