Blackhawks acquire Kevyn Adams

The Chicago Blackhawks have acquired center Kevyn Adams from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for forward Radim Vrbata.
''In Kevyn Adams we're getting a veteran player who is extremely versatile, is a good skater and is a very good face-off man,'' said Blackhawks general manager Dale Tallon. ''Kevyn has won a Stanley Cup and is a proven leader.''
The 32-year-old Adams split last season between the Carolina Hurricanes and the Phoenix Coyotes.
He began the season with Carolina appearing in 35 games scoring two goals to go along with two assists for four points with 17 penalty minutes. He finished the season with Phoenix playing in 33 games and scoring one goal while adding seven assists for eight points with eight penalty minutes.
Adams was a member of the Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes in the 2005-06 season.
A solid penalty killer and face-off man, Adams has appeared in 513 career NHL games scoring 59 goals while adding 75 assists for 134 points with 304 penalty minutes. In playoff competition, Adams has played in 67 games scoring two goals to go along with two assists for four points with 39 penalty minutes and one Stanley Cup Championship.
Radim Vrbata was acquired by the Blackhawks from the Carolina on December 30, 2005 for future considerations. Last season, he appeared in 77 games for the Blackhawks scoring 14 goals to go along with 27 assists for 41 points with 26 penalty minutes.
In his NHL career, Vrbata has appeared in 346 games scoring 75 goals while adding 95 assists fro 170 points with 104 penalty minutes. He has also appeared in nine career playoff games and has not scored.
