Bobby Orr
I was surprised to see that no one had mentioned the greatest defensemen ever to play the game in this section of the forums yet.
Bobby Orr took the defensive position in hockey to a whole new offensive level. He was one of the first aggresive players at the blue line and managed to out score most of the forwards in his day.
Orr was named the league's best defensemen eight straight years, and won the Hart Trophy as league MVP three times.
Needless to say, this guy was one hell of a hockey player.

RE: Bobby Orr
I never saw Orr play in person. Saw him a bunch I TV way back when. He drove me nuts. Boston and Chicago had a big rivalry way back. He was a fantastic player.

One of the best games I ever saw was when the Bruins came to the Aud in Buffalo, hosted by the French Connection. It was not one of Bobby's nor the Bruins best nights. Oct. 10 - 9-5, Sabres.

RE: Bobby Orr
Some argue that he's even better than Gretzky - especially in terms of how he revolutionized the game. However, it's a bit of a moot point since his career ended so prematurely.
"How would you know? When I played you were in your 3rd year of
8th grade." - Ducks color analyst Brian Hayward to Sean Avery.
