RE: Brind'Amour Resigns
He definatly brings a lot of character to the dressing room but close to $4mil a year for a guy who has never been a big offensive guy let alone when he is 40 is expensive. I know he is in great shape and probably won't have to many injuries in the next 5 years but that is a risky contract for Carolina.

RE: Brind'Amour Resigns
Damn. The title of this scared me.
It said "Resigns" but it should have said "Re-signs".
I thought he was quitting hockey! I was shocked. heh
For a second there, I too was worried. But I've done the same thing before, putting resigns instead of re-signs. Anyway, I know Brindy could physically cut it well into his 40's because he's a phenomenal athlete, but I don't know whether or not he wishes to keep playing once this current contract expires. After winning the cup last year, he really doesn't have much left to prove from a player standpoint, and he's already left his mark on this team and the game itself. Plus he does have a family, so I'm sure that will come into play at some point as well. However, if he continues to produce and this team continues to win, who knows.

RE: Brind'Amour Resigns
I think he'll play as long as he can out of sheer love of the game.

RE: Brind'Amour Resigns
Old topic but figured I'd bump it since I heard some news concerning it. Canes GM Jim Rutherford said in an interview the other day that this may not even be Brind'amour last contract with the team. Can you imagine him playing past 40? I think he could definetely do it. He actually posted his highest ever fitness scores this year in training camp and look how good he's been so far.
I can see that happening. Guy's in incredible shape at 35, I'm sure he's got some good years left in him. As long as he can avoid injuries, this guy will outlast the Energizer Bunny.
