Brunette signs extension with Avalanche

DENVER (AP) -Forward Andrew Brunette signed a one-year extension with the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday that will keep him in Denver through the 2007-2008 season.

Brunette had a career-best 24 goals last season, marking his eighth consecutive season with 10 or more. He had 63 points, third on the team and the second-highest total of his career.

Brunette played in all 82 games last season and has missed only one game in the past four years.

Perhaps the most underrated player in the NHL, while Brunette didn't have an amazing season he still played better then his contract suggests. I could see him getting 70+ points this year if their line clicks well. Brunette and Sakic, then Hejduk or Svatos.
