Bryan Mcabe stays in Toronto

http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=167485&hubname=

5 year extension.

If Toronto is hoping this guy will help them out next season they gotta get it through there heads... It was their offence they need improving. Signing someone for 6 mill is alot in this day and age of the NHL. I wouldnt be surprised if Eddie is gone and theres a significant change up front.

I have nothing bad to say against T.O.'s defence... except Ottawa can penetrate it easily.

Toronto is on the road to being re-built I think. Aki Berg left the team earlier on so that helped the leafs alot.

Lets see how much McCabe will help them next campaign.

I've just saw it at RDS.ca, I don't think it's a great signing at 5,5 - 6 millions a year. It's way too much and they need a goaltender if Belfour don't comeback. They also need wingers.

Yes, ME too i'm not sure that Toronto made a great move by signing McCabe. May be they want to trade it to have a forward or a goaler, but it's not with only one defenceman that they will win the Stanley Cup. We had seen it this season!

Im starting to think that Toronto might be using McCabe as bait, and if so they also gotta think that a 6 million dollar man is not really that good looking on todays market with the salary cap.

wow 5.5-6 million is overpaying IMO, McCabe is good but for that kind of money you could get better... bad move by the leafs

RE: Bryan Mcabe stays in Toronto

The price doesn't really bother me, the contract length makes it a bad signing.

The Leafs had alot of money to play with and only a few holes to fill. But UFAs were fastly disappearing from the market.

But as expected JFJ chose to play it safe and re-sign Bryan, before NYI or another team could jack his price even higher up.

Hopefully the contract isn't as bad as reported.

If McCabe can get this kind of money, I wonder what Lidstrom is going to get! And Markov for the CH next year!

Sportsnet --- No movement clause, and Leafs also gave McCabe more money then he wanted/ expected.

I am going to cry .

RE: Bryan Mcabe stays in Toronto

ok IMHO I thing ti was a good move, where else will Leafs get a defensemen this good? the last 2 seasons he played he did great compiling 131 points in 148 gmaes that is just a bit below 1 ppg in 2 seasons, adn in those 2 seasons he was +21 overall, every team needs defense and I think leafs have a man they can rely on, they have Aubin in net, Pogge comming and Rask comming now to get some more young players up front as well will help but I think McCabe is a big part of the leafs and The leafs did a good job signing him
