Campbell on the Block
The Sabres haven't ended contract talks with free-agent D Brian Campbell, but they're not making much progress. The word is Buffalo won't let Campbell go for nothing, and will move the defenseman before the trade deadline if he's not re-signed. The Sharks, Senators, Penguins, Canucks, Rangers and Bruins have all made pitches for Campbell. The asking price: A player, prospect and No. 1 pick.
It figures, Buffalo is continuing to disassemble. I don't understand why Buffalo didn't try to resign Campbell during last offseason considering that they lost Briere and Drury because they waited too long before negotiating. This seems to be one of the worst run organizations from the front-office perspective. Its like they don't learn from their mistakes. Is Buffalo trying to lose their players on purpose? I feel sorry for guys like Miller who signed to long term deals thinking they would remain competitive and then they get stabbed in the back like this. I bet die-hard fans are going crazy after this news.
