pure talent wise after the first season obviously oveckin looks better, but if i was faced with placing a team around him id still have to say crosby . put any decent players around crosby and he'll make them twice as good, as for oveckin he'll always be good but wont make others excell like crosby ever will.

I pick Ovechkin. They both got over 100 points, but Ovechkin did it with much less support from teammates.

This is one of the most incredible statistics:

Ovechkin had more points than the next two players on his team combined.
He had 106 points, the next two players were Zubrus with 57 and Halpern with 44.

I think he would have had more points if he passed the puck.

That is a pretty crazy stat. I think he would pass more if he had someone on the team that had anywhere near his skill. I think he needs someone to set up plays for him so that he doesn't have to do all the work. If he tries to do it all himself I think he will end up injured like Bure but if Washington could get someone to play with hime the way Adam Oates and Brett Hull did he could end up with some great stats.

Crosby because he'll be around a little longer

Ovechkin, he just seems to be a little more polished right now.

Ovechkin is the more pure scorer of the two, but Crosby may have the overall skills. It is very hard to make a choice with only one full year under there belts.

Both played for brutal teams thier first year. Now that both Washington and Pittsburgh has stepped it up you should see an improvement in both. Ovechkin will continue to get the job done by himself, but Crosby now has Malkin, so watch for him.
