Defense

Whats the deal with the defense for this season. I assume we are still stuck with Hatcher and Rathje. I dont mind Hatch so much because he will go out and hit but Rathje is brutal to watch sometimes. Have we even picked D up in the offseason, I cant remember.

RE: Defense

Hatcher is worse because hes getting slower faster than rathje.

RE: Defense

The flyers defense currently consists of:

Nolan Baumgartner
Denis Gauthier
Derian Hatcher
Freddy Meyer
Joni Pitkanen
Mike Rathje
David Printz
Alexandre Picard
Randy Jones

That's the top six and then the first three call-ups.

Looks pretty solid to me.
If Pitkanen has a good year, their good to go. But without Forsberg for the first part of next season, it will be interesting to see how they place

RE: Defense

Forsberg could be ready for opening night now because he didn't need a second surgery. He won't be out till January anymore as far as I know. Haven't seen any updates since they said that so I'm assuming it's still the latest news.

Really? Guess it must have been announced when I was in Hawaii or something, there is no hockey coverage there, exept a couple of seconds if a big namer got signed. Good news for flyers fans!

RE: Defense

I found the article:

Quote:
The Flyers found out Tuesday that centre Peter Forsberg won't need a second off-season ankle surgery, which moves his potential return up to October from January.
