Did you know this? I found this interesting, I thought I might share. Its about Ducks goaltender J-S Giguere.
Jean-Sebastien suffers from a rare physical condition where his body takes in too much air when drinking. As such, he does not adequately assimilate fluids into his body during games, and suffers from dehydration. To this end, Giguere uses a special water bottle during games which limits the amount of air entering his body, and he takes his helmet off frequently so as to sweat less. In one game in the minors, J-S lost nineteen pounds of fluids!

That is crazy. I never heard that before. Apparantly Belfour used to lose about 13 lbs per game.

yeah that it crazy! I didnt relize how much goalie lost weight! I would have thought they lost none. I guess you cant say Brodeur isnt a good goalie.

THis is just amazing!
I figured out that the goalies were probably loosing some pounds during games, they are so active, but 19 is a lot!
YOu should be in perfect shape to be goaler. I think that we didn't knew this fact because we never hear about the goalies physical condition. It could be great to learn more.

Yeah, You dont hear about Goalies condition or anything. It would kinda be interested if they showed players and goaltenders weight before they hit the ice and after. I would like to see that.

Yeah, and the dehydration issues contributed a lot to the groin problems he's had in seasons past. It all seems to be kosher now though, which I'm thankful for. J.S. is having a terrific season!

Because of the new system they have in place for J.S. (New liquid mixture for him to drink, new work out regimen), he should be fine in double OT. He hasn't had a problem with it yet this year.
