Drury News!!
For the record, the Buffalo Sabres are hoping Chris Drury comes back next season. If that statement doesn't seem all that newsy, you should know that it was, in fact, news to their co-captain. Drury made it clear Monday that he would prefer to stay with the Sabres rather than explore unrestricted free agency. He loves the town, loves the team. That is, he said, if the team wants him back. If, Chris? That puck to the mush affect your noggin? "Nobody has told me that, so I'm not going to assume anything," he said.

Chris Drury's chief concern immediately after the season wasn't whether he would get his money. He wondered how Buffalo would be better if his getting a hefty salary meant Daniel Briere was forced to leave. The Sabres have already made it clear they're going to be cautious with payroll. The warning signs were evident last summer when Mike Grier suggested he didn't like what he saw in Buffalo's future and signed with San Jose for the same money the Sabres offered. Grier and Drury text message one another over trivial matters.
Thats not very hopeful news. I know both players expressed interest in a "hometown discount," but with Buffalo's owners saying that they are going to be cautious of adding payroll that still might not be possible. I didn't know the story with Grier, but its definitely interesting.

RE: Drury News!!
The way people were talking, they made it sound like Drury would be out of Buffalo. I hadn't heard any indication on Briere.
