thats pretty ridiculous. i'm just curious how close are the Ducks to the cap now that they signed Schneider and Giguere? Are they still able to sign any more players or give Selanne a decent raise? Brian Burke is a freakin' great GM.

yeah i was thinking, With signing Matheiu Schnieder that will mean that they are most likely not going to make a pitch in for Teemu. But also remember the salary cap has gone up.

this also affects the Ducks competition: the Wings can probably make a better offer to Bertuzzi or Smyth now that Schneider is gone and Hasek has committed to staying.

In an Orange County Newspaper, Burke said that now (especially with the signing of Bertuzzi as well) he'll have to offer Teemu a incentive laden contract so that it doesn't count agains the cap - that is if Teemu comes back, of course.
