The Anaheim Ducks have signed forward Samuel Pahlsson to a two-year contract extension. No financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

"Samuel Pahlsson has established himself as one of the best two-way centers in this league," said Ducks' executive vice president and general manager Brian Burke. "We rely on him to kill penalties, win faceoffs and shut down opposing teams' top lines, and he does all those things well."

The 28-year-old had 11 goals and 10 assists over his 82 games for the Ducks last season. He was acquired from Boston in exchange for Andrei Nazarov and Patrick Traverse in 2000.

This is GREAT news! Pahlsson is part of the core of this team and I sure am glad that we locked him up for two more years. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he wins The Selke one day (if he scores more goals). He's really impressed me thus far this season. He's been playing really physically and even pasted Avery against the boards in the season opener. Good stuff, Sami!

Thats good for the Ducks

Very good, especially considering he would have been a UFA at season's end and I'm willing to bet he'd get a lot of attention from other teams. He's one of the most underrated players in the league (in my opinion).
