COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Blue Jackets defenseman Duvie Westcott will miss six to eight weeks with a broken joint in his left index finger, Columbus president and general manager Doug MacLean said.

Westcott, who signed a three-year contract extension in September through the 2009-10 season, was injured Friday night in the third period of a 5-4 shootout win at home over Calgary. He was to have surgery this week.
In 11 games this season, Westcott has three goals and five assists. He had career highs of six goals and 22 assists in 78 games last year.

That seems like an awful long time for a broken joint in his finger. I swear hockey players are getting softer.

That seems long for just afinger, but not too long since he's coming back from surgery.
