According to the Team 1260 in Edmonton, the Oilers have signed veteran centre Michael Nylander.
The report did not include any contractual details.
The 34-year-old appeared in 79 games with the New York Rangers last season, and was second to Jaromir Jagr in team scoring with 26 goals and 83 points. He led the Rangers in scoring in the 2006-07 playoffs with six goals and 13 points in ten games.
With the signings of centres Scott Gomez and Chris Drury, Nylander was the odd man out with the Rangers.
Nylander signed a two-year contract with the Rangers as a free agent in 2004. He was originally drafted by the Hartford Whalers in the 1991 entry draft.
Nylander has played in 808 regular-season games in his 12-year career with Hartford, Calgary, Tampa Bay, Chicago, Washington, Boston and New York, recording 189 goals and 609 points
Not a bad signing. I just hope it wasn't for too much money since a lot of Nylanders points came from playing with Jagr. I don't think he'll get 80 points like he averaged in NY, but he should get around 70.
