Emery to minors for 2-game conditioning stint

Quote:
OTTAWA (AP) -- Ottawa Senators goalie Ray Emery was assigned to Binghamton of the American Hockey League on Thursday for a two-game conditioning stint.

Emery, recovering from a left wrist injury that required surgery, will start for Binghamton against Syracuse on Friday night and Hershey on Saturday night.

Emery was 33-16-6 last season with a 2.47 goals-against average. He went 13-7 in the playoffs to help the Senators advance to the Stanley Cup finals.

I wonder if it's also a little bit because of his attitude? Didn't he oversleep during the playoffs last year and miss the plane?

Sounds like he has a little bit of work to do to get back into NHL shape

I am sure that that incident has nothing to do with anything this year. A lot of goalies go to the minors for conditioning. He has said in interviews that he played hurt mosed of last year and that he doesen't want to do that again. They have the oppurtunity to take as much time as they need getting Emery into shape due to the fact that Gerber is playing so well. If they were having the same sort of start as last year I think that they would be pushing Emery a little to get back into games.

Next question for me is, did Gerber increase his trade value enough for other teams to be interested in paying his salary. A team like the Kings could use a decent keeper right now.

I think they need Gerber in Ottawa, or a different competent goalkeeper who can start 30+ games with good stats. I still don't see Emery as a 65+ starts #1 goalie. The Emery/Gerber show will work just fine. It never hurt San Jose to have Toskala and Nabokov. Plus I don't have 100% faith in Emery... yet.
