Emery undergoes successful wrist surgery
Ottawa Senators goaltender Ray Emery underwent successful surgery Thursday afternoon at a Cleveland clinic to repair a partial tear of the meniscus in his wrist.
Rather than risk a complete tear, the decision was made to undergo surgery now.
Emery, who suffered the injury in November, will not work out for the next two months and will likely not see game action until mid-September.
The Cayuga, Ontario native is slated to become a restricted free agent on July 1. He made $925,000 this past year and has arbitration rights.
Emery was 33-16-6 in 58 regular season games with a goals-against-average of 2.47 as the Senators' starting goalie for the better part of the season.
In the playoffs, he was 13-7 with a 2.25 goals-against average.
