PHILADELPHIA (CP) - The Philadelphia Flyers will honour former captain Eric Desjardins before Thursday night's game against the Montreal Canadiens, the only other team he played for during his 17-year NHL career.

"You play your career and you don't really think of stuff like this," Desjardins said Tuesday. "But when you see people taking the time to put together a nice ceremony like this, it's nice and I'm flattered."

Desjardins retired last August after 11 seasons with the Flyers and six with the Canadiens. The all-star defenceman had 575 points (136-439) in 1,143 regular-season games with the two clubs. He played in three all-star games and won a Stanley Cup with the Habs in 1993, scoring a hat trick in Game 2 against Los Angeles.

He is second on the Flyers' all-time list for defencemen in goals (93), assists (303) and points (396).
