Four Blue Jackets players out for season
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- The Columbus Blue Jackets will be without four top players -- and possibly a fifth -- for the rest of the season.
General manager Doug MacLean said Wednesday that goaltender Pascal Leclaire (knee), defensemen Duvie Westcott (concussion) and Bryan Berard (back), and forward Dan Fritsche (lacerated wrist) will miss the Blue Jackets' final 16 games.
MacLean said Berard is out indefinitely with a recurring back problem that caused him to miss the second half of last season and most of this campaign.
Team captain Adam Foote has a high ankle sprain and might also sit out the rest of the way, MacLean said.
The Blue Jackets entered Wednesday night's home game against Los Angeles in 12th place in the Western Conference, well out of the playoff race.
