The Philadelphia Inquirer reports the Flyers have agreed to a five-year deal with forward Simon Gagne worth $5.25 million a season.

The signing ends a long summer of negotiations between Gagne, a restricted free agent, and Flyers general manager Bob Clarke.

Gagne, who was reportedly asking for $5 million to $6 million a year, is coming off a career-high 47 goals and 79 points last season. The 26-year-old was taken 22nd overall by the Flyers in the 1998 Entry Draft and has 160 goals and 324 points in 426 career NHL games.

More to follow.

He signs a 5 year contract of 5.25 million $ by season. If Forsberg is not injure this season, their line(Gagné and FOrsberg) will be amazing!

RE: Gagné stays with the Flyers

I'm glad Gagne is able to return to the Flyers. With him back, they should do pretty well again this year.

RE: Gagné stays with the Flyers

WOW! Finally, I, as a die hard Flyers fan, am FINALLY RELEIVED!! It's about time. That line (Foppa, Knubs, Gags) is going to be stellar!! Probably better this year then last. I can't wait for O&B season to begin.

Thumb_up1
Let's Go Flyers!!!!!

Decent price to pay for a stellar 2-way player like Simon Gagne. I'm pretty sure he could score 50 this year with a healthy Peter Forsberg.

GL Simon!
