Hamilton Predators?
http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=210730&hubname=nhl
Jim Balsillie wants to prove Hamilton is a viable NHL market.
The prospective new owner of the Nashville Predators on Thursday launched a season ticket campaign, seeking deposits for seats and suites at Copps Coliseum.
Purchasers will put their money down with no promises in terms of when, or if, an NHL team will eventually call Hamilton home. All deposits would be refundable.
The price range for deposits is: $500 for upper bowl seats; $1,000 for lower bowl seats; and $5,000 for suites.
Balsillie's purchase of the Predators has yet to be approved by the NHL. The franchise is viewed as a prime candidate for relocation.
Looks like the beginning of the end for hockey in Nashville. I wonder if the team will still call itself the Predators? Dallas kept its name when it moved from Minnesota, but Phoenix changed to the Coyotes from the Jets when it left Winnipeg. I just hope Bettman realizes that his expansion plan is a failure and he shouldn't add two new teams in Kansas City and Las Vegas like the rumors suggest. I'll wager money that if they move the franchise, they'll win the Cup next year (just like Colorado!).

RE: Hamilton Predators?
Definitely looks like the end for the Preds in Nashville. I don't know about the name - it could go either way. Hamilton Predators doesn't sound very good but I wouldn't be surprised if they change it if they move. When the Stars moved to Dallas, they actually dropped the North from the North Stars and became just the Stars.
I'm with you - hopefully Bettman realizes that adding more teams won't help the situation with attendance, etc. It's probably going to mean more lost money for owners.

Thing is, I don't think he will. He's an owner's commissioner and he'll stay that way. The only reason he still has his job is because he let the owner's win the lockout. In fact, the owner's gave him a $2 MILLION bonus in salary because he did such a good job for them. He's probably one of the worst commissioner's in the history of the NHL, but he'll keep his job as long as he's bringing in some $$$ for owners today. By expanding the league so much and moving to cities where hockey is treated like a novelty act, he's ruining the league's long-term growth. I'd wager a lot of money that Bettmen will expand the league soon just so current owners will get lots of $$$ (from the franchise fee it takes to start a new team) and he'll get another big bonus.
With the current TV coverage and bad marketing strategy of Bettman, I'm just counting the days until spelling bees and uno tournaments will become more popular events than the Stanley Cup finals in America
