Hitchcock New BJ Coach

It looks like the rumor panned out. Ken Hitchcock is the new coach of the Blue Jackets.

Nine days after firing former coach Gerard Gallant, the Columbus Blue Jackets have reportedly decided on his replacement.

According to a report on TSN of Canada's Web site, Ken Hitchcock has agreed to a three-year deal to coach the Blue Jackets. The sides reportedly agreed to terms Wednesday. Hitchcock is expected to run the team's practice Thursday and will make his debut Friday against the Philadelphia Flyers, the team that fired him last month.

The news comes three days after the Blue Jackets interviewed Hitchcock and a day after they met with former Los Angeles Kings coach Andy Murray.

"I was impressed with everything," Hitchcock told the Columbus Dispatch on Tuesday. "From the interview to the facility -- everything, every aspect impressed me. That's the best way to describe it."

Great news for the Jackets. I think Ken can really make a big impact on this team. And he seems to already be fired up about his new job. Plus, you gotta love the irony of his first game back as a coach is against his former teamDevil1. I wonder if that was planned?

Here's hoping that he can teach that team how to play! They are just awful, I pretty much feel sorry for Nash. He had so much potential, but I guess it gets hard to be motivated on a team that really has no history of a winning record. I wonder how the fans in Columbus feel about their hockey team? Maybe, I'll go over to the Columbus boards to see how they are!!

you're in oil country
