RE: Hurricanes Deal Jack Johnson
When you need help right now like Carolina you usually give up more than you get back. Johnson might be what the Kings need to get some more support in LA. The Kings need a star to bring back the excitement that they had with Gretzky. Not to say it will be the same as the late 80s and early 90s but there hasn't been much to talk about in LA since the Great One left town. Hopefully for LA Johnson can live up to his potential and bring some star power back to the Kings.

RE: Hurricanes Deal Jack Johnson
man, i was disappointed rutherford made this deal because we really need some young, good defensemen. a lot of people, myself included were really looking forward to seeing him play in raleigh and had he decided to skip college it would have been real soon. kaberle wont be back for the next 4-6 months and hedican isnt quite 100% yet. not to mention wesley and wallin are coming to the end of their careers. but i respect his decison to stay in college. it will make him a better hockey player in the long run. i just hope the new guys can step up.

RE: Hurricanes Deal Jack Johnson
Wallin isn't coming to the end of his career lol. He just signed a four year deal this summer. I, too, was looking forward to seeing Johnson play because of how bright his future looks but it seemed unlikely he'd ever wear a canes sweater after draft day. I wouldn't be surprised if he re-enters the draft after 4 years of college. I am surprised, however, that he didn't get a bigger return. The canes got ripped I think. A high pick would need to be thrown in for it to make sense. At least we got rid of Turnoverdovsky. The thing I don't understand is that Rutherford said he was getting offers but they weren't good enough. If this deal was a good one then I'd like to see how pathetic one of the other offers was.

lol what i meant by that was wallin along with our core of veteren defensemen are getting up there in terms of age, and it would have been nice to have the youngster out on the ice some time this year learning as much as he could from them, since they likely wont be around for many more seasons together. but then again, i guess rob blake is perfectly capable of teaching him a few things.
the good news is gleason looks somewhat promising, but i agree, we got shafted on this deal.
