Hurricanes re-sign defenseman Wesley
A little something for the champs.
The Carolina Hurricanes re-signed veteran defenseman Glen Wesley to a one-year, $1.2-million contract. Wesley, a key figure in the team's Stanley Cup drive, just finished his 18th NHL season, and had two goals and eight assists in 64 regular-season games.
"Glen has been a fixture on our blue line for many years and we are thrilled that he is coming back for another season," Hurricanes president and general manager Jim Rutherford said. "His leadership and reliability are very valuable to our team
The Hurricanes also added a forward, luring Columbus Blue Jackets right wing Trevor Letowski with a two-year contract that will pay the seven-year veteran $800,000 per season. Letowski, 29, had 10 goals and 18 assists in 81 games for Columbus.
