RE: Jason Allison rumor

OVechkin, Allison, and NICKLAS BACKSTROM. ok ok so backstorm is no overchkin, but he should see some minutes this season. Allison can do nothing but add to their lack of depth. At the same time how long will he stick around such a young team, rebuilding for their future? THere are 8 players born in the 80's. On top of the fact the team is being lead by a young up coming "Great" player! If they bring JA in that would create more offense for Overchkin, teams wont be able to keep a guy on him the whole game. George McPhee better do the right thing here, and pay him what hes worth to get him in a Caps uniform.

RE: Jason Allison rumor

Wouldn't hurt for Washington to go after some defense either (not much out there anymore.. Leetch is available but I think that's about it).  Their lack of depth covers their defense just as much as their offense.

Also, I wouldn't count on watching Backstrom play this season.  And I definitely would not expect to see Ovechkin-Allison-Backstrom as a line.  The only reason to rush Backstrom into the NHL this year is to give Ovechkin a center, not necessarily a capable one but a center nonetheless.  During this year's Entry Draft, Backstrom said himself "I am not ready for the NHL" while Ovechkin sat beside him saying "Nice try, you're ready.  I need you" in response [slightly paraphrased].  Bringing in Allison would give Backstrom the opportunity to develop in a less competetive league.

I was watchin RDS on Wednesday I think, and I'm not very fluent in French, but from what it looked like, I thought they were saying something about Allison joining the Habs. But maybe it was just saying something about him being in Montreal. It makes sense though, they are looking for a second line center, and they have good enough D to make up for his lack there of haha.

RE: Jason Allison rumor

Ive been hearing a lot of rumors surrounding Atlanta but not so much Washinton.  This signing would be better for Washington and it would make their powerplay pretty scary, but I dont see it happening. Out of Atlanta I've been hearing their gonna trade for Craig Conroy, and if they do that I dont think they will bring in Allison.  I think Detroit or Chicago will find a way to sign Allison for powerplay reasons only.  Allison is getting old but he's still a force when his teams a man up.

i think allison would do well on the wings. not so sure that he would be a good fit on the washingtons line up.
