John LeClair on waivers
I guess LeClair isn't performing as expected this season. It's too bad because he has been a great asset to his teams in the past.
John
The Pittsburgh Penguins placed veteran winger John LeClair on waivers Thursday.
The 37-year-old has two goals and five assists in 21 games this season. He's in the last year of a deal that pays him US$1.5 million. A three-time 50-goal scorer a decade ago in Philadelphia, LeClair has seen his role diminish in Pittsburgh this season. He played mostly on the fourth line and didn't dress for a game against the New York Islanders on Tuesday.
"Hopefully, something will change because it's not a great situation for me," LeClair said in Thursday's Pittsburgh Post Gazette. "You have to make the best of it, but, hopefully, something happens."

RE: John LeClair on waivers
It might be time for him to call it quits and hang up his skates. He should of done it before the start of the season, but meh, he thought he still had stuff left to give and Pittsburgh views otherwise.

RE: John LeClair on waivers
i think he still has value somewhere, Canucks should pick him up and trade Cooke, equal salaries. Leclair, at worst, would be a powerplay specialist and leader in the locker room.

RE: John LeClair on waivers
Teams are all waiting for him to go through reentry waviers so they'll only need to pay him $750,000

He might make a pretty good player for someone. He's kind of old, so I think that if he does return, then he should hang it all up.

RE: John LeClair on waivers
Wow.. I havent heard much about Leclair in awhile. From what I remember with his style of play with the Flyers, I couldn't picture him skating with the Peguins...

RE: John LeClair on waivers
He definately doesn't fit in with the Pens style of play. They are going with youth and speed, Not too much with age and size. Sure Recchi is still there but he can still skate. I honestly don't think he'll be in a Pens uniform much longer.
LET'S GO!!!!

Right on the money, he is now on Re-entry waivers.

Because its about 1/4 though the season, he is about $562 500 if claimed.
Canucks better put in a claim for him this time, he makes a bit more than call-ups! Waive Santala or Choiunard or Move Bulis to make cap space.

RE: John LeClair on waivers
I wonder does his under performing have anything to do with the fact that he isn't really valued on the team. You rarely hear about Recchi, let alone LeClair. And there was that whole Malkin injury thing...when I saw that it looked intentional.
I think he could still be a 20 goal scorer for a year or two on another team though. A team that needs leadership, that would respect him for being a leader. Plus he can still puck handle pretty well, like Canucksfan said..he could be used on the powerplay.
