He is getting old and isn'tclose to the same guy he was when he carried the team to the finals. If he is willing to take a big paycut from his $5.5mil, I'm sure they would like to keep him around, but I doubt he would be getting more than $1.5mil for next season.

well said. it seems that nowadays with the right conditioning, goalies can play for a very long time. however, they should expect to get paid a lot less than $5.5M/year. I expect he'll be with the Caps for another year or two and then the Caps can sign a UFA or hope Varlamov ('tender they drafted a year or two ago) will be ready for the NHL by the time Kolzig finally leaves.
