LOU DID IT!
Malakov and a 1st to San Jose for Alex Koroluyk and Jim Fahey. Lou actually pulled it off. Is there a better gm?

RE: LOU DID IT!
His name is Brian Burke....
But anyway, is my mind playing tricks on me or wasn't Koroluyk supposed to be a big time star in this league but just never panned out?

RE: LOU DID IT!
he wouldnt be the first, nor the last. But the amazing part is Lou just dealt a retired guy with a $3 million price tag.

RE: LOU DID IT!
Actually, its a conditional 1st rounder.
Burke is a better GM for sure.
I guess you have to do whatever it takes to get under the cap.

RE: LOU DID IT!
That's amazing but he didn't get much in return and he's only creating problems for his team because they already have a lot of forwards who will probably play over Koroluyk. It'd be interesting to see the combined salary of Koroluyk and Fahey...

RE: LOU DID IT!
Think of it this way, the Devils just traded that first round pick for Martin, Hale, Clemmenson and Rasmussen, or I'm assuming those are the guys they will sign with this space. If Mogilnys salary is held off due to injury, Gionta comes back. Dont look at what the Sharks give up, look at who the Devils will sign in the next few days. Id easily give up that first to have either Hale or Martin in the lineup.

RE: LOU DID IT!
BTW, Koroluyk is in Russia and Fahey in Lowell, neither will count against the cap.

RE: LOU DID IT!
i am kinda surprised by this. you gotta give it up to lou though, certainly one of the best gms in the league. i heard they were trying to dump off mogilny, but i guess this works out as well. now its only a matter of time before gionta gets his new deal.
i heard that some of the other players they are trying to re-sign have reported to camp already. if this is true, dont you guys think that is a little risky. in a way, its commendable, but it certainly wouldnt be a good situation if someone takes a puck to the face or somehow injures themselves during camp without a contract.

RE: LOU DID IT!
I was at the Devils preeason game vs Philly and Clemmenson was (well, sitting on the bench, but in uniform) and so was David Hale. Rassmussen, Gionta and Martin apprently had the flu, which is going around the lockerroom. I heard Clemmenson, Hale and Martin all agreed to deals, but couldnt sign them until cap space was opened up. Lou is also trying to get Mogilny's salary off the books due to long-term injury, won'tbe easy, but I have faith.

RE: LOU DID IT!
Well in that case, I'd say he did a pretty good job.
