Latest Habs Rumors

I think the habs should trade Abeisher and Samsonov for a powerful center for their second line. But as the article Samsonov has no value now, so they should hope for his value to raise before they trade him. Niinimaa can be also added to the deal.

Quote:
While various rumors suggest the Montreal Canadiens are in the market for some added punch, there appears to be little interest in the players they are trying to move, reports La Presse.

According to the paper, the names of Sheldon Souray, Sergei Samsonov, Janne Niinimaa and David Aebischer have been floating around in recent trade speculation.

However, the value of Samsonov, Niinimaa and Aebischer are practically none existent, while the Canadiens have no intention of trading Souray.

Citing an unnamed source, La Presse the Habs may be "stuck" with Samsonov due to his $3.525 million salary.

Niinimaa, on the other hand, may attract more interest as the season progresses. Even though he makes just over $2.5 million this season, teams are always interested in a veteran defenseman for the playoff stretch. Montreal's defensive depth would allow them to part with Niinimaa for some help up front.

The Canadiens are in the market for an offensive center. La Presse suggests they could have interest in Philadelphia Flyers star Peter Forsberg, however he has a no-trade clause and could veto any move.

The paper claims the Habs would have to give up a top prospect and a first-round pick in order to obtain a top centerman, although they hint that such a deal would not likely happen until closer to the trade deadline.

RE: Latest Habs Rumors

Spectors was saying they were close to a deal with Vanvouver involving Naslund. Doubt it'll happen though.

RE: Latest Habs Rumors

Others sources (I don't remember who) were saying that Souray and Samsonov were going to DEtroit and that the Habs would received Datsyuk and Chelios.
Personnaly, I think that we should not change the team before Chris Higgins comes back in the formation.

RE: Latest Habs Rumors

Not to mention Datsyuk is producing now and Samonsov well.... isn't. And Souray might be out now, so a cold player and an injuried one for a dinosaur and a goal scorer.

RE: Latest Habs Rumors

Who would trade a great defensemen with a killer shot like Souray for a guy who will be out of the league if not this year, definitely next?

RE: Latest Habs Rumors

It won't surprise me if Chelios is still around next year. He is still a decent d-man at the age of 44. I can't see the wings giving up Datsyuk who has had a slow start this year but has improved every year since he joined the NHL for Samsonov who has declined almost every year since 2000. The Habs could probably use some veteran leadership that Chelios would provide and the I'm sure Souray would help the Wings but I can't see them trading away for Datsyuk for Samsonov.
If this deal happens the Habs win it for sure. It's not like Samsonov just eeds a change of scenery, he has already had a couple of them, he shows flashes of brilliance but doesn't pay the price physically to excel in this NHL.

RE: Latest Habs Rumors

Theres also rumors about Souray to Van for Sami Salo , And theres also rumors the Chelois want to go to Montreal for his final years. The only rumor I heard with Datsyuk in it is Datsyuk to NJ, and Gomez to Det. I have heard nothing involving Naslund to the Habs, But I have heard Morrison to the Habs. And The Habs are loooking to get Sergei Federov for Columbas.

Heres some more info:

Quote:
The Montreal Canadiens are looking for help at the center position and could be eyeing Blue Jackets veteran Sergei Fedorov, reports the Ottawa Sun.

According to the paper, whispers out of Montreal last week suggest the Habs are looking at bringing in Fedorov to help the club push its way up the standings.

The Canadiens are currently fourth in the Eastern Conference and hold the league's fifth-best record (19-8-5, 43 points). The addition of a veteran, offensive-minded center could potentially boost the performance of wingers Alex Kovalev and Sergei Samsonov, which is what the Habs are hoping for if they acquire such a player.

While Columbus isn't actively shopping Fedorov, the Sun claims Jackets GM Doug MacLean would be willing to listen if the Habs really are serious about making a deal.

Fedorov's $6 million salary, however, could pose a problem. The Habs current payroll sits at $41 million and they would have to clear some money if they're going to bring in someone like Fedorov.

The Canadiens are trying to move defenseman Janne Niinimaa and his $2.4 million salary, while the Sun claims the Habs are also looking to deal center Radek Bonk ($2.3 million), however it's unlikely the team will trade one of the league's best defensive players.

Various reports have also hinted the Canadiens are also eyeing the likes of Vancouver's Brendan Morrison and Tampa Bay's Vaclav Prospal.

And heres the Gomez for Datsyuk one :

Quote:
According to the New York Post, the Detroit Red Wings and New Jersey Devils could swap center's Pavel Datsyuk and Scott Gomez.

Both players can become unrestricted free agents on July 1, and the Post claims it's unlikely either will return to his current team.

Datsyuk has turned down a long-term extension offer from the Wings and it's believed the team might look to deal him for someone they'd have a chance to sign.

Gomez is making $5 million this season and such a trade would provide Devils GM Lou Lamoriello with some much-needed cap space.

Datsyuk, 28, has tallied seven goals and 17 assists for 24 points in 31 games with the Red Wings this year.

Gomez, who turns 27 on Dec. 23, has notched four goals and 17 assists for 21 points in 23 games with the Devils this season.

And heres some news about Fedetanko and Brewer.
Quote:
Fedotenko rumored to the Sharks (e2) or Canucks (e2)

Rangers still in Brewer sweeps with possibly Prucha going the other way. Thrashers the favorite for Brewer.

Habs very interested in Datsyuk.

Oh and the Rangers place D Sandis Ozolinsh on waivers yesterday, His salary is 2.75 million.

RE: Latest Habs Rumors

yeah datsyuk isnt going to go to the habs! there is no real value for the wings in any trade rumour that has been offered. the only logical one for the the two clubs would be datsyuk for defensman Janne Ninnima and Tender Aebby. but considering that the sallary for aebby is fairly high... dont see it happening

although i do like the souray for salo trade... i think both teams will win out of the trade!
