Leafs Vs Thrashers 10/23

Leafs are down 2-1 after the first.

I would say that this is a must win for the buds. The Toronto media doesn't need anymore fuel to attack this team win. Losing to the Thrashers(1-7) would not be good. Just ask JFJ.Smile

Tough shootout lose after tying it with under 10 seconds to go. At least they got a point out of it. I thought they were done with another third period collapse.

RE: Leafs Vs Thrashers 10/23

I've never looked at the statistics for the team that gives up the most goals in the last minute of periods but I can confidently say I think we would take the cake in that category.

I've seen our D collapse late in periods like that so many times that I'd be lying if I said I was surprised when the Leafs tied it.  Toronto definately didn't play badly though, I'd say it was a good game for both teams offensively but both sides gave too much room in their own zones.

Two things I saw everybody making a stink about were Toronto's last goal and Hedberg's save on Sundin.  When I saw it live I thought the whistle should have been blown and the goal shouldn't have counted but that was from the far side and when you watch the reply you can see Hedberg didn't have full possession: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13qME8A3tVI

As far as the save on Sundin, I thought it was legit.  Everybody says in the shootout they give more leniency to the rules but I've seen goalies do that on breakaways and get away with it.  You all can judge for yourselves (the whole shootout is here, Sundin is the 3rd shooter):  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4H5TUBGa6A

I didn't see anything wrong with what Hedberg did. He came out and poke checked Sundin, as long as he was on the goal line when Sundin first touched the puck I don't see what anyone would have to complain about.

I agree. Hedberg's move on Sundin in the shootout was completely legit. I don't know why other goalies aren't that aggressive against some players in shootouts.
