Lightning Waive Denis
The Tampa Bay Lightning have waived goaltender Marc Denis.
Denis has one win in 10 starts this season with a 4.05 goals against average. He has not played in nine of the last 13 games and was a healthy scratch in three of the last four, losing his spot to rookie netminder Kari Ramo.
Ramo, who has allowed just six goals in three games with the team while posting a 1-2 record. Johan Holmqvist is the other netminder but he's been pulled four times in his last five starts, allowing 17 goals on 80 shots for a goals against average of 6.94.
Denis' last game for the Lightning was back on December 18 against Atlanta when he gave up three goals on 15 shots in just two periods of play.
The Lightning acquired Denis from the Columbus Blue Jackets last June for Fredrik Modin and Fredrik Norrena. He is scheduled to earn $2.8-million this season and $3-million next year. If no one claims him off waivers by noon Saturday, Denis is expected to be assigned to Tampa Bay's AHL affiliate in Norfolk.
The only thing I am asking is what took so long?!?

RE: Lightning Waive Denis
I'm just wondering when they are going to fill their holes. Their defense is horrendous, and their goaltending is terrible.
With those 3 massive contracts, its hard for them to make deals

RE: Lightning Waive Denis
With Denis off the books, thats an extra $3M they can use to upgrade their defense, which isn't that great to begin with. If they improve their defense, that'll help their goaltending, too (so you kill 2 birds with 1 stone). They really need to get rid of 1 or 2 of their expensive wingers (not named Lecavalier/Richards/St Louis) and sign a big name defenseman in the offseason.
