Malkin close to extension

Looks like Malkin is close to signing an extension. He will get paid pretty big too. So does this now be Pittsburgh could have 15-20 million of the cap used on two players?

http://www.sportsnet.ca/thewire/hockey/2...extension/ - this was also on the scores ticker

Quote:
Evgeni Malkin did not leave the NHL Awards Show at Elgin Theatre on Thursday night with either the Hart Trophy or the Lester B. Pearson Award.

But he said the prize he really covets -- a long-term contract extension with the Penguins -- is on its way.

"I'm thinking maybe five or six years," said Malkin, set to enter the final season of his three-year entry-level deal. "I'm an easy guy to deal with. I'd love to stay in Pittsburgh."

RE: Malkin close to extension

I wonder what he'll be looking for, for money. That will be alot of money the pens have tied up in 2 players. I think he'll ask for around the 8 mil a season range. Plus they still have Fleury and Stall as well. How would they fill in the other gaps with no money. Shero will be hoping they lock him(Malkin) up before july 1 or the pens will have to shell out major money to match the offer sheets.

LET'S GO!!!!

I was watching TSN yesterday,

The contract is believed to be 5-6 years worth 9 million a season!!!

That would make him paid more then Sid the Kid
