A story this week speculated Jean-Sebastien Giguere's value ($3.9million salary this season) could exceed what the Ducks are willing to pay him next season. The story listed Boston, Tampa Bay, Phoenix, Chicago, Montreal, Carolina and the Kings as teams that might be interested in signing Jiggy for bigger bucks.

Flyers forward Simon Gagne will need off-season surgery to repair a small hernia in his lower right abdomen. Gagne said he expected to finish the NHL season but will likely withdraw from Team Canada to play at the IIHF World Championships in Moscow next month.

Former Flyers great John LeClair will not retire in orange and black, at least not this season. Paul Holmgren confirmed Monday the Flyers were interested in letting LeClair play his final NHL game as a Flyer on the final weekend of the regular season, but with LeClair still interested in resuming his NHL career next season, the idea was scrapped

Blackhawks coach Denis Savard had a new top line at practice, with Patrick Sharp centering for Martin Havlat and Rene Bourque. Sharp has seven goals in the last nine games.

Thrashers forward Jon Sim, who broke his orbital bone last Thursday during a fight with San Jose's Mark Bell and had surgery Saturday to put a plate and screws in his head, was back at the team's practice facility Monday. He begged to be allowed to join the team in Florida.
