Marleau isn't fazed by rumors
If you read the Canadiens talkbacks, you will finding many people asking for such trade. Marleau is a great player, but he also on his downhill, same as Koivu and Ryder. A change of teams might be helpful for the three of them, but not sure Marleau would give more to the Canadiens than the two other guys combined. We'll see if this rumor comes true...

His name may be popping up in more trade rumors than he'd like to see, but Sharks captain Patrick Marleau does not appear bothered by all the gibber-jabber.
"I have a job to do on the ice and that's all I can worry about and take care of," Marleau told the San Jose Mercury News. "It's a hockey country, a hockey hotbed, so there's always talk up there. There's always rumors."
Earlier this week, Marleau was connected to a rumored deal that would have sent him and right wing Steve Bernier to the Montreal Canadiens for Saku Koivu and Michael Ryder. Many claimed the rumor stemmed from TSN hockey guru Bob McKenzie. One small problem, he never mentioned anything of the sort.
McKenzie later clarified his statements on his TSN.ca blog, telling folks that when he spoke on sports radio station The Team 990 in Montreal on Monday, he made reference that "Sharks GM Doug Wilson probably isn't sure what to make of his team" and later suggested if the Canadiens keep struggling, they may be inclined to make a deal.
From that, the hockey world, primarily in Montreal, went wild and linked the two together, adding players' names to add fuel to the fire.
From that, the online community tossed more gasoline on the rumor so much so that bloggers were having a field day linking the deal to McKenzie and even changing the parameters of the deal.
To make a long-story short, McKenzie never linked the two teams, nor did he make reference to any players.
The Sharks are most definitely looking around the league for ways to improve their hockey club. Several sources tell TFP that the team would like to make a deal to solidify their offensive game. Outside of Joe Thornton, their offensive-minded players have been struggling.
While it's possible the Sharks and Canadiens have had a conversation or two, the Toronto Maple Leafs are the team supposedly very interested in Marleau's services.
Leafs scouts took in San Jose's game on Tuesday against the Minnesota Wild, prompting speculation that the two sides are talking.
For now, however, a deal does not appear imminent, but you can bet everyone's going to be watching.
