Defenseman Branislav Mezei, who dislocated his left shoulder Jan. 10, likely needs surgery and may miss the rest of the season.

"I think he's going to need shoulder surgery," Martin said. "Whether he has it now or later, we're still debating. I think he still wants to get another opinion.

"We should know early next week whether he'll be done for the year. If he has the surgery now, he's out for the year because you're looking at four to six months rehab."
