Mike Smith Named Third Star of the Week

DALLAS STARS GOALTENDER MIKE SMITH NAMED
NHL'S NUMBER THREE STAR OF THE WEEK
NEW YORK -- The National Hockey League announced today that Dallas Stars goaltender Mike Smith was named the NHL's Third Star for the week ending Nov. 26. Tampa Bay right wing Martin St. Louis (First Star) and Anaheim right wing Teemu Selanne (Second Star) rounded out the honors from the league. Each Monday, the NHL will recognize three players who delivered the League's top performances over the preceding week.
Smith, 24, was 3-0-0 during the week with a 1.73 goals-against-average, a .917 save percentage and one shutout. His shutout was his second career NHL shutout as he stopped all 17 shots in a 1-0 win over Nashville on Wednesday night.
If he qualified for the statistical league leaders among goaltenders, Smith would rank first in goals-against-average (1.53) and second in save percentage (.937). He is currently 5-1-0 on the season and has allowed just one even-strength goal over his past 222:46 minutes played. The 6-3, 211-pound goaltender has been named one of the three stars in three of his five starts this season.
Last season with the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League (AHL), Smith appeared in his fourth professional season and was 25-19-6 with a 2.50 goals-against-average and a .917 save percentage. He led all AHL goaltenders in assists (6), ranked fourth in goals-against-average, fourth in saves, seventh in save percentage and eighth in wins.
ONE DREAM, ONE TEAM, NOTHING ELS MATTERS!!!
