NHL: Brodeur, Nabokov, Lundqvist named Vezina finalists
Martin Brodeur is out of the running for a Stanley Cup or a Conn Smythe Trophy this season. But the New Jersey Devils goaltender has a chance to win his fourth Vezina Trophy.
The winner, which is decided by the league’s 30 general managers, will be announced at the NHL Awards Show on June 12 in Toronto.
Brodeur, whose Devils were eliminated from the Eastern Conference quarterfinals last week, is one of three finalists announced on Monday for the top goaltending award. New York Rangers' Henrik Lundqvist and San Jose Sharks' Evgeni Nabokov are the others.
A year after he recorded an NHL-record 48 wins, the 36-year-old Brodeur was victorious in 44 of the 77 games he played this season. He ranked fifth with a 2.17 goals-against average and tied for fourth with a .920 save percentage amongst goaltenders who played in at least 41 games.
Nabokov, who is a first-time finalist, played in a career-high 77 games after an off-season trade that sent backup Vesa Toskala to Toronto. The Russian goaltender led the league with 46 wins and ranked third with a 2.14 goals-against average.
Lundqvist has been a finalist in each of his three NHL seasons and recently beat out Brodeur in a best-of-seven playoff series. The Swedish goaltender won 37 games in 2007-08 and topped the league with 10 shutouts.

Close stats, but my vote would go to Lundqvist.
