NHL Classics Video Game

How great would it be to have a NHL video game featuring all the classic teams and players like Goride Howe, Ted Lindsay and The Red Wings in the late 40s, Maurice Richard and The Habs of the early 40s, Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito and The Bruins of the 60s, Guy Lafleur, Ken Dryden and The Habs of the 70s, Gretzky, Messier and The Oilers of the 80s.

I know it'd probably be hard to get the rights to do this, but I would buy this game in an instant! Imagine Gretzky's Oilers playing Howe's Red Wings!? It would be incredible!

RE: NHL Classics Video Game

That would be a sick game. All the old rivalries, pitting great teams from different decades against eachother. I could play that forever. Gotta love "terrible" Ted Lindsay. Most famous person to come out of my town.

I wonder what it would take to get this game made?

Actually NHL 2K6 has that, kind of...

It has classic NHL teams available as unlockable teams.. Unfortunately you have to go in, edit the players to reflect names and numbers because of royalty rights... There's 'cheat code' sites online to help fill in the blanks so to speak... I played my 72 Bruins against the 79 Habs..

RE: NHL Classics Video Game

I love the idea of a classics game, hey who knows, maybe we could start a petition or something Wink. But yea, like medic stewie said, the 2k games usually have a fair share of unlockables like that, one of the first things I do is try to unlock as many classic teams/rosters/logos as I can.

RE: NHL Classics Video Game

It would be amazing to play but it would be much harder to design. If it takes place in all differnt times they would also have to add the differnt rules of that time, all the player on the team and other stuff. I would like to play it a game like that... but right now im pumped about NHL 07. Infact im thinking of going out next week to buy a 360 ($563 canadien) Im going t be broke Sad

RE: NHL Classics Video Game

I just bought a used XBOX, so buying a 360 is out of the question for me. Maybe in a couple of years or so once the price goes down....

RE: NHL Classics Video Game

A "classic" hockey game can't take place because none of the players that would be used are currently or never were part of the NHLPA
