That would have to suck to be Nabokov if that happened. Imagine going from one of the top teams in the league to the very bottom. Same kind of thing happened to Boulerice last year, though he wasn't a regular player. They signed him right back in the off-season too, brutal.

Reminds me of Khabibulan. Sort of. Mostly in the fact that before the lockout, he played for Tampa, but after the lockout, he signed with the Blackhawks. In retrospect, it probably wasn't a bad move, since Tampa hasn't really done that much since he left. But Chicago?? At least this year, he's doing alright.

you're in oil country

Yeah but it would suck even more to be Toskala since his name was the one connected to the Philadelphia rumor.

I'm pretty sure Nabokov has a no-trade clause, meaning if he doesn't want to go to Phoenix or Boston, he doesn't have to

RE: Nabokov Nearly Traded Last Week

i doubt Nabokov will be going anywhere let alone phoenix or boston!

boston need to stick with the goalies they have now... let them get some experience with the team and they will do well!

I agree. Boston is not built to win a Stanley Cup this season. They're in a re-building phase and need to grow and mature their goaltender so that when the time comes he will be able to allow them to compete for a Cup.

RE: Nabokov Nearly Traded Last Week

yeah see i think the Bruins have solid vets and young guys on D... and have some great young dudes coming through the ranks on the forwards... its just a matter of getting an established top line LWer and keep their tenders and they will do well! if they pick up that LWer at the deadline or in the offseason, then the cup prob wont come in the next year or two... cos i think toivo needs a good 50-60 NHL wins next to his name before the Bruins can go on with it... but after that growing period, they will go far!

but that is a bit of a tangent from what the topic is about... i can see Nabokov being shoped, but not moved by the deadline because of his no trade clause and his high salary. i reckon he will sign in the off season for about a mill less. wether he stays with san jose or moves on to another team.. not 100% sure... i think the sharks fans may have him for the last season, but hey Nabo... go out and prove me wrong!
