Nedved, Dimitrakos and Baumgarter placed on Waviers
I didn't think I'd see a club make a drastic move like this so soon in the season. Im sure many clubs would be intrested in having those three.
A day after getting humbled 9-1 by the Buffalo Sabres, the Philadelphia Flyers have placed three players on waivers.
The team placed defenceman Nolan Baumgartner and forwards Niko Dimitrakos and Petr Nedved on waivers and will recall right wing Stefan Ruzicka, defenseman Alexandre Picard and left wing Ben Eager from their AHL affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms.
According to Flyers Assistant General Manager Paul Holmgren if the three players clear waivers Dimitrakos and Nedved will be assigned to the Phantoms and Baumgartner will remain with the Flyers.
"We decided we wanted to recall three players from the Phantoms," Holmgren said in a statement. "In order to do that, we had to place some players on waivers today."
In four games with the Phantoms this season, Ruzicka has five goals and four assists for nine points and seven penalty minutes and leads the team in scoring. In four games with the Phantoms, Picard has one goal and one assist for two points. In three games with the Phantoms, Eager is scoreless with 21 penalty minutes.
The three new Flyers will join the team on Thursday.
Nedved is making $2.356 million this season. He was acquired by the Flyers in January from the Phoenix Coyotes. The 34-year old has zero points in six games this season. He will be a free agent at the end of the year.
Baumgartner signed a two-year deal with the Flyers in the off-season. The 30-year old defenceman has one assist and 21 penalty minutes in six games. He will make $1.2 million this season and next.
Dimitrakos was acquired from the Sharks at the trade deadline last season for a third round pick. The 27 year old is making $675,000 and is in the final year of his contract. He has zero points in two games.

Wow! I guess Hitchcock is desperate to shake things up. Good for him.

Getting Eager up with the Flyers will at least give them some size without the slowness of Hatcher. They have to do something, I don't know that bringing three guys up is going to be enough. Maybe seeing a guy like Nedved put on waivers will wake up some of the other veterans on the team.

Baumgartner was decent in vancouver, but he isn't worth 1.2.
Nedved isn't worth 2.3 either.
The only one I can see being claimed is Dimitrakos.

Getting rid of those three salaries and estimating $600 000 each for picard and ruzicka would put the team under $38mil and even keeping Baumgartner they would be right around $39mil. This would give them a lot of space to make a move if they want. I wouldn't mind Khabibulin. I know a lot of people think he is finished now but he's only 33 and I think having him in nets could give the offensive guys some confidence and they would not have to worry about who is in goal.

Heres what the associated press had to say
Flyers waive Nedved, others after loss
Associated Press
Posted: 53 minutes ago
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Center Petr Nedved and fellow NHL veterans Niko Dimitrakos and Nolan Baumgartner were waived Wednesday after one of the Philadelphia Flyers' most lopsided losses in franchise history.
The Flyers, who lost to Buffalo 9-1 Tuesday night, recalled right wing Stefan Ruzicka, defenseman Alexandre Picard and left wing Ben Eager from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms.
They will join the Flyers on Thursday for the game at Tampa Bay.
If Nedved and Dimitrakos clear waivers by Thursday, they will be assigned to the Phantoms. Free-agent defenseman Baumgartner will remain with the Flyers.
Baumgartner had one assist, and Dimitrakos and Nedved were both scoreless this season.
The 34-year-old Nedved, acquired by the Flyers in January in a trade with the Phoenix Coyotes, has 308 goals and 705 points in 942 career games over a 15-year career in the NHL.

RE: Nedved, Dimitrakos and Baumgarter placed on Waviers
Interesting. I never would have thought this would happen well I mean Philly placing Baumer on waiver, like canucksfan792 said he is alright (though I dont like them. He gives up the puck alot) but he is deffenly not worth 1.2 Mil. I was shocked when i head this in the summer. Like Baumer said in the Paper he never thought his was going to happen and that he wanted to say in Van. But then he said when you get a contract like that you must take it.
I would kinda like to see the Nucks pick-up Dimitrakos. I think he would do pretty good on the 3rd line with Burrows and Cooke.

Another game another loss. Let's see who gets sent down tomorrow or maybe they'll wait for the loss tomorrow night to do something else. If they do lose tomorrow this could be a very different looking team by Monday.

Well that's 3 games in a row where they have outshot the oponent and lost. It's probably for the best. A couple of wins in a row might give them reason not to make more changes. I hope this is enough to get rid of Clarke. I have thought for a long time that he's been doing a good job but he has really just been getting by, ever since he signed vanbiesbrouk instead of joseph it has been mistake after mistake in the goaltending department. He was fired once by the Flyers, hopefully it will happen again.
