New Deal For Crosby
Today the Pens extended Crosby's contract for another 5 years after his current one expires at the end of the 2007-08 season. The terms were not disclosed but TSN says they believe the deal is worth $45million which works out to $9million per year.
Seems like a pretty good deal for both the team and player to me.

RE: New Deal For Crosby
thats a pretty reasonable deal for Sid considering he could've demanded the max salary. it just kind of makes me curious what will happen to the pens 2 or 3 years down the road when Malkin, Fleury, Staal, Whitney, and maybe Esposito are all in line for a big raise. They could turn into Tampa Bay part 2.

RE: New Deal For Crosby
Well the fact that Crosby didn't take the max which he definatly could have gotten be becoming an RFA next season may convince some of these other guys to take less to keep the team together and win a championship.
The thing is if these guys stay together until they were 30 they could probably win a few Stanley Cups and then when they get to be 30 all go off to other teams and sign huge contracts. It probably won't happen that way but it would be great for Pittsburgh and the NHL if it did.
