Oilers agree to 3-year deal with Lupul

Quote:

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) -- The Edmonton Oilers re-signed winger Joffrey Lupul for a contract worth about $6.9 million over three years.

The restricted free agent, who turns 23 next week, was acquired in the Chris Pronger deal with Anaheim earlier this summer. Lupul, who made $900,600 last year, had 28 goals and 25 assists in 81 games with the Ducks, his second in the NHL. The Edmonton native also added nine goals and two assists in 16 playoff games.

Lupul, Anaheim's first choice, seventh overall in the 2002 NHL draft, had 13 goals and 21 assists in his rookie season following a successful three-year stint in the Western Hockey League, where he scored 127 goals.

Now thats a better signing. Good to see Lowe lock up a young talent, hope he plays well there. Lowe got some decent returns from the Pronger trade
