Oilers in a new season...

Since there isn't really a thread for this in the Oilers section and I don't really see a lot of Oiler fans in here, I suppose I could make my own thread and update it. I only hope that I'm not the only one to be reading it...lol

So...

Tonight is Edmonton vs Detroit. After that last game against them, I definitely hope that the Oil show up. Since Detroit has been holding teams from shooting, the Oil really need to use their speed to get things going. I hope they don't do the same thing they did last time to in the fact that they spent more time trying to start fights than anything...

RE: Oilers in a new season...

Along with their attack, putting speed into it and get more shooting chances, there is a question how will Roloson be in the game,'coz if he will have his day, along with strong defence of Oilers,we might watch some OT or SO game decision!!

RE: Oilers in a new season...

I don't think Roloson does a very bad job of trying to keep the pucks out of the net, but there is the fact that the D on the team isn't very good. It's too bad they lost their big D-men after the end of the season (Pronger and Spacek) who made the biggest difference in their defense.

I would assume that you're pretty happy about getting the big guy on your team Nos!

OTiS, do you follow Edmonton at all? If so, are you happy with Joffrey Lupul?

RE: Oilers in a new season...

Of course I follow the Oilers. There are very few games that I am able to watch since I live in Vancouver, but I listen to a lot of them on streaming audio from the 'net.

As for Lupul, several years ago, there was a trade rumor that Edmonton was going to pick up Lupul. This was just after he started playing in Anaheim. Back then I wanted him badly, now that he is there I am still glad that we got him. I always felt that he belonged in an Oilers jersey.

RE: Oilers in a new season...

The only time I've been able to see The Oilers play was when they played Anaheim earlier this season. But you're right, he looks good in an Oilers jersey...although I guess it's kind of in his blood.

The reason I asked is because when he was in Anaheim it always used to drive me crazy how inconsistent he is. It seems like one game he's absolutely dominating and then the next game he cant' do anything. Has he found a bit more consistency in Edmonton?

No, he's still a bit inconsistent, but he has potential. He's only in his 3rd year in the NHL (not counting the lockout of course), so there is a lot of time. Now he isn't going to be a Lemieux or Jagr, but he'll be pretty good in the long run.

RE: Oilers in a new season...

Yeah, there's no doubt that he has tremendous potential. When he's accurate (which seems to come and go), he has one of the best snap shots in the league.

How's his defensive game coming along?
