Oilers invite Carter to camp
Carter is still a good player, but not sure he can have any major impact on any team. If I was the GM of the Oilers, I would go with a young player rather than Carter, seeing that his stats are on the downhill and doubting that he a lot of leadership to give to a team.

Edmonton, Alberta (Sports Network) - The Edmonton Oilers have invited forward Anson Carter to training camp for a try-out for the upcoming season, the club announced Sunday.
Carter, 33, split the 2006-07 season between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Carolina Hurricanes, scoring 11 goals and notching 17 assists. The Toronto, Ontario native has career totals of 202 goals and 219 assists during his 10- season NHL career.
Carter began his NHL career with the Washington Capitals in 1996-97 and has played for eight different teams over his career, including the Oilers. Carter played three seasons with Edmonton, scoring 69 goals with 88 assists in 211 games between 2000-01 and 2002-03.

hmm. Edmonton trying to bring back some offense?
But carter is not the correct guy that can be a stellar point producter. But, you never know if he goes there it will depend on what his linemates are.

Yeah, that is a really strange move...then again Lowe is desperate to get anybody to come to Edmonton. It's not like he had a whole bunch of quality players to choose from.
Having watched Penner play for the better part of the last 2 years, he's the same as Carter. He needs a lot of motivation and he can really disappear out there if he's not paired with the right linemates (Getzlaf and Perry). It should be interesting to see how these two (if Carter makes the team) do this year.

It is a little strange but if the Oilers think that Carter can help, than so be it.

Hey, can anyone tell me, if Carter got signed anywhere after this season? I really don't remember hearing anything about him, unless he got injured or something.

I think its a bad move. I always felt Carter was a terrible player who just kind of leeched of the talent of his linemates. The only time in his career he scored 30g was when he was getting significant ice time and PP time with the Sedin twins. He's just not that good a player.
