RE: Penguins Sold!
I'd say there might be a good chance if they don't get a new arena.

RE: Penguins Sold!
while there is a slight chance that could happen, i dont think the pens will be headed up north on a permanent basis anytime soon. if they dont stay in pittsburgh (i hope they can get a new arena and stay in pittsburgh) they will probably move to Kansas City, which has a new arena already built. before they built it, they even went so far as to take a survey asking people would they rather have hockey or basketball play in the new arena, 75% of the people said they wanted hockey - good choice . i've heard several other possible places they could move to that are building a new arena soon, like houston.

RE: Penguins Sold!
im not sure, but it wouldnt make much sense to move the team that already plays in an old arena to another old arena. the pens are actually promising now and they need a brand new place to play hockey.
the guy who is purchising the team apparently wants to keep them in pennsylvania . hopefully they wont have to leave.

RE: Penguins Sold!
The guy who bought them is from Kitchener-Waterloo just west of Toronto. Apparently he wants to move them to Waterloo if the casino thing doesn't work out in Pittsburg. There is also a lot of talk about him moving the team to Hamilton. There would be problems with the Leafs and territory rights but the word in Toronto is that they may be able to get around that somehow. It would be pretty cool to see a team come back to Canada.

RE: Penguins Sold!
Oh it would be awesome to see another canadian team. About Hamilton though; doesn't a team have to be so many km's away from the nearest team. I thought I heard that on TSN the other night.

RE: Penguins Sold!
A team has to be more then 65 miles but when the Ducks moved into Anaheim the Kings got $25mil which was half of the Ducks franchise fee. Hamilton is within the 65 mile radius but they might be able to get around it paying the Leafs or if the other owners vote to allow it. It will be interesting to see how this works out.

RE: Penguins Sold!
Saw em' on TSN during the Pens game the other night, he basically said he didn't want to move the team or it's fanbase, he wants a new arena plain and simple. On a side note, anybody else hear him sneak the 'S-word' in there during that interview?
