Philly to aquire Leetch?
according to published reports, the philadelphia flyers are interested in signing Brian Leetch. they are in the market for a replacement with mike rathje (herniated disc) out indefinitely.
before the season started, i heard he was only considering coming back to the bruins or rangers. it seems like philly needs him more, but im concerned about his speed since i havent seen him play in a while. if he is quicker than hatcher and rathje, this would be a great veteran player to have on this team.

He is quicker than either of those guys but his last salary was $4mil per season. He would be a good addition and I think he would still be great on the power play but I don't think he should get more than $1.5 mil.

RE: Philly to aquire Leetch?
Is Calle Johansson available? How about Al MacInnis?
The Flyers would be better to either promote or aquire a young defensemen and get him some experiance in the NHL for around 1 million a year, than waste 2+ million on a veteran defensmen more prone to injuries. Better to solve the problem than band-aid it for a year.
That being said, as far as band-aids go, I guess Brian Leetch would be decent.

Brian Leetch would be a pretty damn good band-aid. While he's up there in age, there's no doubt that he can still play. If he can be signed for a bargain price, I say go for it Bob Clarke!

RE: Philly to aquire Leetch?
I was always fascinated by the fact that he's from Texas. Also, I was getting a tour of Madison Square Garden one time and the tour guide picked up on the fact that I'm a huge hockey fan so when we went into the Rangers locker room I got to try on his helmet.
